Hollywood Must is a project divided into two distinct phases. Must in Italy involves writing a scene that will later be filmed and acted out in Hollywood during Must in LA. Must in Italy will provide skills in teamwork and screenwriting, while Must in LA will offer skills in directing, acting, and editing at the New York Film Academy.
The true goal of the project is not strictly related to cinema, but to the experience: a stretch with peers experience. Learning the techniques of writing, directing, photography, and acting is not the ends, but the means. Even for those who wish to pursue that career path, it is only the beginning of a long journey of study. The real objective is personal growth, growth fueled by exploration, stepping out of one’s comfort zone, and sharing an experience with peers
The STRETCH element is linked to various factors: the city of Los Angeles and the setup of the American university system, the lack of experience in the topics, having to create an audiovisual work that will then be viewed by friends and family, having to teamwork, which is rarely practiced in schools but it’s essential in the workplace.
It’s common knowledge that cinema, even in the writing phase but especially on set, is among the professions where teamwork is most crucial due to its creative and conflicting dynamics. That’s why it’s fundamental to learn how to engage with one’s PEERS.
